Employment Opportunities

(Employments available for 2010 camping season) 

There are no current positions open for the 2009 camping season.

 

NATURALIST (7 1/2 month) 2 positions available - This is a 34 week commitment with room and board included (food is provided only while camps are in session).  You must have at least an associate degree in environmental education or related field, Current first-aid and CPR certification, at least one season of camp program staff experience and the ability to supervise campers and staff.  Your general responsibilities are to plan, direct and supervise camp's environmental education and outdoor education programs, to teach nature education, life studies and adventure education (training is included for ropes course, team challenge, zipping climbing and rappelling programs). 

SUMMER NATURALIST INTERNSHIP 2 positions available - This internship is available and recommended for undergraduate and/or graduate students.  Room and board included (food is provided only while camps are in session).  You must be at least 18 years of age with a high school degree or its equilvent.  Your qualification include a current first-aid and CPR certification, the ability to teach skills to counselor and campers of all ages.  The general responsibilities are to assist in teaching nature education, life studies, shooting sports and adventure education (training is included for ropes course, team challenge, zipping, climbing, rappelling programs)

LIFEGUARD - This is a 10 week commitment with room and board included (food is provided only while camps are in session).  You must be at least 18 years of age with current certifications in Red Cross, YMCA lifeguard or their equivalent, current first-aid and CPR certificates and the ability to supervise and guide  staff, adults, counselors and campers of camp's pool and canoeing programs.  You will be responsible for monitoring pool safety, teaching swimming, canoeing and lifesaving techniques.

SUMMER MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT - This is a 10 week commitment.  You must be at least 18 years of age, mature, capable, and mechanically-oriented.  A current driver's license is required.  Your responsibilities include but are not limited to using hand and power tools safely, climb ladders and work at heights, drive truck, tractors and misc. equipment, must be able to lift, load and carry up to 80 lbs.  You will be working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.  Safety training is available.

COOK - This is a 32 week commitment.  You must have experience as a cook and/or assistant cook, preferably at a camp or youth service facility.  Knowledge of standards of food preparation and serving /kitchen procedures, along with the ability to work well with others.  Your general responsibilities are, but not limited to collaborating with preparation, cooking and serving of camp meals, maintaining kitchen and food storage areas in a clean and orderly manner, and the lifting/unloading and moving of food cases and supplies. 

SUMMER DISHWASHER - This is a 10 week commitment.  You must have the desire to work in a camp kitchen, learn to do tasks as assigned, accept supervision and have the ability to work well with others.  Your general responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the responsibilities of keeping a camp kitchen clean and orderly.  You must be able to lift, unload and move food cases and supplies, and operate a mechanical dishwasher safely (training available
