Our Story
4-H Camp Ohio Youth Education Center is a 4-H camp centrally located in northern Licking County, approximately five miles east of Utica, Ohio. It is set in beautiful rolling hills and now has more than 300 acres of land to serve young people. An additional 220 acres are available through a 10-year (renewable) no-cost lease thru the Evans Project.
4-H Camp Ohio Youth Education Center is officially owned and operated as The Agricultural Extension Camps, Inc. This corporation is comprised of Ohio State University Extension Faculty who devote 50% or more of their time toward extension work. It is a not-for-profit organization and meets as an entire body once a year to elect a Board of Trustees, hear annual reports and to approve the budget.
As 4-H and the Ohio State University Extension is part of The Ohio State University, 4-H Camp Ohio is in the unique position of drawing upon the talents and resources of The Ohio State University. This is not to say that 4-H Camp Ohio is able to draw upon the financial resources (in fact, no tax dollars have ever been used for facilities) but, rather, the talents and abilities of the faculty, staff and students. This, of course, gives a tremendous base from which to design programs and educational opportunities for young people.
